Tiki drink
You can find out everything you need to know about the time Lottie was framed for murder in my series Wicked Things (2020), collected in one handy volume by Boom!Box. Or you can wait until the next page is published, when Ms Charlotte Grote will summarise the story for Glenn (and you) in one page flat.
SmooOOOOOOCH
Sparklers in fancy drinks often lead to a visit to the local hospital’s emergency ophthalmologist…
Also, is that an Imperial Stormtrooper in the first panel or an ’80s sci-fi film character I no longer recall clearly?
looks like a Cylon
…and that’s Number 6 at the far end of the same bench seat, perhaps?
Number 6? I never saw Patrick McGoohan looking like that!
It’s all part of not being pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered.
There’s the Prisoner reboot we *should* have had.
“I am not a number! I am a very sexy robot lady!”
When worlds collide.
“You seem bored.”
“Eh, all of this has happened before. All of this will happen again.”
I’m still trying to figure out whether he’s an oriignal series 1978 Cylon or a reimagined 2004 Cylon. The costume looks to me like it may have been inspired by both a bit.
The former surely, with a Caprica 6 from the remake to the right
I love that they’re pointedly ignoring each other.
It looks to me like she’s looking over at him.
“Pfft. Last year’s model.”
The previous (splash) page was gorgeous, this page is phenomenal in it’s story telling.
Thank you so much Mr. A.
& I hope the bubble went well (will go well?)
* its
I’m shipping GLaire even more, as he insouciantly dismisses her admirers as “little boys” .
Claire’s in her element, but she might not say no to Gelf.
Another banger of a strip after the fantastic splash page last week. Lottie just looks incredible in that outfit. I love too that Glenn (who BTW looks great with a mustache)’s price for digging into Lottie’s past is forfitting his birthday Mai Tai (at least he gets to keep the fruit).
…or are they Little boys?
What if he ends up with both of them in a comic menage a trois?
Wouldn’t that be poly-cule (no)
So, what does a old Cylon Centurion drink?
Nothing microwaved.
So you’re saying it’s made in a frackin’ toaster?

Mr. Joel (more or less – there might be a misquote)
Grant, this is very impressive, it’s all there.
Sadly, I cannot encapsulate in verse the magnificent gurning of Sarin.
Consider, Lottie: Maybe this is the Little Cinematic Universe, and you’re the supporting character. Claire does seem to be the one who’s holding this Solver thing together, through main force of will.
“Everyone’s the centre of their own cinematic universe” is the new “everyone’s the main character of their own story”
Lottie’s dress is absolutely worth a YOWZA.
Yessir, I reckon our lil’ Lottie’s all growed up.
Mildred’s given Glenn the goss on Lottie, just as she gave Lottie and Claire the goss on Glenn, and she doesn’t even seem to have extorted any chocolate from them.
She’s a big girl; she can buy her own chocolate now. And what’s a little chocolate compared to being able to toss a couple of hand grenades into your social circle?
PINEAPPLE!

Before I get to today’s page something I noticed and it seems a lot of you did I didn’t pick up on right away: I never realized that it was LOTTIE in the main photo dead center, and it was a great bait and switch as you assume the skelengton is her and not our mystery scoundrel.
As for this page itself: I love the expressions on Glenn this page, his slight worry at those “boys” taking Claire away, his wattery eye at his big tiki drink (had the same reaction on my 21st birthday when I had my first drink, so I relate. Not a big booze man), and his gentle concern in the penultimate panel, a really great bit of expression that says a lot: He comes off both slightly hurt and more than that concerned Lottie’s been hiding this pain. And his suprising annoyance at loosing his drink. All good stuff that shows the boys depth.. we’re seeing a LOT more emotion than his usual panic and depression from Glenn and i’m here for it.
As for Lottie herself, I have loved this thread of her actively running from the events of Wicked Things. While she HAS found a new precious little life: a new bestie, her old bestie by her side, a weird crank next door to be their man in the chair, the trauma of her frame job really has left a mark. It’s been a cloud hanging just out of frame, something Shauna notes when she realizes Lottie never solved the case. IT’s one of the few times we’ve seen her this rattled I believe. It left her vunerable in a way she’s not used to. It’s not the first time a case has shook her (See her big mistake in the case of the simple soul or the fire in the case of the modern men) but she can usauly bounce back. But the gravity of what happened and the realization as she gets older the cases are only going to escalate and the lack of an idea what ot do BESIDES being the world’s greatest detecitve.. it’s a lot and I look forward ot seeing how this plays out.. and seeing WHY her mystery foe has taken so long to go after her again.
Amazing atmosphere and Mildred was able, once again, to predict everything and she gave precise instructions to Glenn for helping Lottie to finally be free from the case that traumatised her. This is so cool!
The mummy has particularly detailed butt padding
I wish I knew why I drew those two butt circles but by heavens I’m glad I did.
A lighting/shadows thing?
Just because it was funny
It is that!
Mummy back pockets?
I’m glad I’m not the only to notice…
It’s a costume from the Universal Sexy Monsters line.
I don’t think that’s what they mean by “yummy mummy”.
Do I detect a Legion influence to the costumes of two of Claire’s little boy chums?
Why is there so much mystery and intrigue about Tiki Drinks? Are the Ancient Gods enjoying this (or has it been their idea from the beginning?)
For a delightful second, I thought that the Cylon was ROM: Spaceknight. [Sad face of ROM: Spaceknight]
I’m reminded of the time ROM: Spaceknight fought Kitty Pryde. It went… well, about like the end of “Kit + the Wolf”. Which brings us back around here.
I think John could do something pretty fun with ROM: Spaceknight. Although, given the convoluted history of ROM & Co.’s IP rights, it’s probably better that he doesn’t.
…
Or he could troll both Hasbro and the Robert E. Howard’s rights people by doing a CROM: Spaceknight comic.
yesss claire cinematic universe pleaaaassseee
I am hoping fervently for the continuation/conclusion of “Wicked Things” !
I would be willing to shell out at least as much as a volume of Gianr Days Library Edition costs !!

There won’t be a new series of Wicked Things. But this four-part story concludes it.
Pls explain “little boys off Claire’s course.” Does Glurm mean Claire’s fellow students in a particular class? I thought she dropped out. They are definitely not little boys… is this just Ygln’s point of view or did Claire know these guys when they were in fact little boys? “Course” of babysitting? OK I’m just reaching now…
After leaving the LSE Claire enrolled at Sheffield University – that’s the whole reason this comic takes place in Sheffield. Issues were dedicated to this. “Little boys” is just a funny way of saying “young men”.
Maybe they’re not “little boys”, but “Little boys”, as in “Claire Little’s boys”.
She buys a tiki drink
He tries a tiki drink
She takes the tiki drink
She needs the drink to remind us of a bad crime
She needs the drink to remind us of a murder time
pissing the night away…
(this is nowhere near as good as Grant’s “didn’t start the fire”)
“She got knocked down
Will she get up again?
Will she ever solve the mys-ter-ree?”
Charlotte is wearing the hell out of that dress, my goodness
Has Lottie had a Japanese Digital Perm out of the dowager’s largesse? Hair like hers won’t hold a curl easily.
“Mildred has a very big mouth.”
That’s what SHE sa…oh, wait.
