WOBBLY HEAD pt 3 starts Monday
A new chapter begins on Monday and all I can tell you is that it is snowy in the extreme. My Patreon subscribers in all but the lowest tier will be able to read it in full on Sunday. Sign up today to help keep this show on the road.
What if this means Bad Charlotte can grow to be 500 feet tall
Bobbinsverse powerscaling is insane
Alternatively, Lottie and Claire have been shrunk and are attempting to escape on tongue depressors!
That’s an absolutely amazing cover, John. I think Lottie’s evil doppelganger brings out the best in your art. Or maybe you’ve simply reached a higher level. All three, so far, of the Wobbly Head covers have been among your best covers ever.
Thank you. I have worked hard to improve my covers in recent times (as I often ended up going in cold and having to make three attempts), I try to think about them for a few weeks before I draw them, which seems to help the process when I sit down to draw.
Whatever your process is, IT’S WORKING. What a great cover!
“Would you like a story about Lottie and Claire’s international mystery solving in the previously unexplored times between Bad Machinery and Solver?” John Allison asks.
“Yes give me this directly into my veins!” I reply.
“Okay, but it’s going to be while Claire, Glenn, and Dean are possibly dying on the floor amidst scattered Scrabble tiles,” John Allison says.
“WaUgH!” I reply.
If you weren’t expecting some sort of “Monkey’s Paw”-ish twist on the fulfillment of your wish, you haven’t read nearly enough folktales.
Yup. This is why we all love him.
It’s clear the ‘accident’ on the last day was no accident, but the young mystery woman who was gunning (or skiiing, or bi-athaloning?) for Lottie ended up hurt instead.
It will turn out that she is the obsessive girlfriend of one of the handsome lads arrested for the thefts and wanted petty revenge on Lottie for it. Then after the accident her boyfiend (yes, correct spelling) spurned her and she became fixated on ending Lottie’s life.
I mean everybody needs a hobby, but Evilottie has turned vengeance into a profession!
(Sorry – SPOLIER ALERT)
There’s a good chance I almost got 1 part of that correct…
Bad Charlotte being the girl that came a cropper would make sense, or maybe said girl was someone Bad Charlotte accidentally affected, having already been trying to kill Lottie on that trip.
Personally I think having her related directly to the heist boys would be a bit too predictable for how big a deal the Wobbly Head saga is, but I guess we’ll see.
If it’s done well, then that’s what matters most.
Spectacular cover! It show a lots of interesting things. Claire is actually very good as a snowboarder and that means that she has power on fire and ice. Can’t wait to see if the blonde girl is following them or not.
Claire is on skis. The other women are snowboarding.
That’s Lottie and Claire on snowboards, and a mystery third figure on skis, who could this “Bea”?
Amazing cover! Along with flashbacks to her side of the Swiss ski-trip, it also hints at an epic showdown of Lotties!
I suspect that the epic showdown won’t be until part 4.
The clues to the identity of the perp continue to support my candidate. However I will not be unhappy to be proven wrong.
I can’t help but hear the 007 theme or the ski chase them from The Spy Who Loved Me whe I look at this cover.
I was thinking more of the ski chase in The Pink Panther (1963).
A MYSTERY SKIER!
“For England, Lottie?”
“No. For me.”
Given that this Part 3 was not part of John’s original plan (meaning that originally our villains identity wouldn’t have been revealed until what is now Part 4), but that he’s stated in a comment reply that at least part of the point of this new Part 3 was to establish Bad Charlotte’s motivations, I’m curious as to exactly how explicit the identity of this evil doppelganger is going to be here. Are we going to know (or strongly suspect) who she is from early on? Are there going to be multiple suspects, with clues we might spot but no definitive reveal until Part 4? Or, splitting the difference, maybe there will be multiple suspects at first, but the reveal will occur later in Part 3? And, along similar lines, are we going to experience this flashback from Lottie’s and/or Claire’s point of view, from EviLottie’s point of view, from someone else’s point of view, or none of the above? I guess we’ll begin to find the answers to these questions in a few days.
The answer to all your questions is: Yes
