SOLVER: 100% CUDDLES starts Monday
As promised, Solver returns on Monday and Claire will no longer be left standing out in the rain, waiting for Lottie. I have seven weeks of copper-bottomed entertainment for you.

Charlotte Grote: Swooner 😀
I’m expecting some aggressive, militarized swooning. Swooning as a blunt weapon, tactical yellow-card swoon, couch-claiming faint
Fainting couches! Distribute them liberally throughout the locations! We can’t afford Ygln to pop a tendon or slip a disc!
J’ACCOUCHE!
But will she be able to break all the rules of swooning before she is banned from every glen in the country?
Glen or Glenn? 😉
Or Glum, Gleam, Gorm, etc.?
Je swoone!
That would be “je me pâme”, with that circumflex accent on the a that makes it all the more classy. And yes, it’s a reflexive verb, French language loves those.
Not a verb used very often nowadays. Pâmoisons have become much less frequent since the end of the corsets.
Good thing I don’t cook my comics on an induction cooktop, then
Working with Lottie clearly requires core strength.
I think working with Lottie requires EVERY kind of strength.
*excited noises*
*child-like glee squeals*
Careful there Glerm. Don’t get caught grabbing Lottie by the fundament.
Solvers’ solvency solved. What a relief!
Doubt and suspicion lurk in the eyes of her friends.
Great cover!
It looks like the main stylesheet has gone 404.
The puffer coat is back, I see. Lottie doesn’t look very solve-y on this cover, but Claire seems wise to whatever Lottie’s up to.
There are definitely some problems that can be solved by swooning.
eg lack of proximity to a chaise longue?
I was thinking the vapors.
BTW, my wife bought a fainting couch. She sometimes sits on it but has yet to use it for the purpose for which it was intended.
Woohoo!! Cannot wait for some top Grote crime solving action
John,
Your work is the best of its kind being done today, and that is because you have the best characters. The Universe has lately taught you an oblique lesson about working with your own characters as opposed to other peoples’. We must heed the Universe, in all its obliquity, because if it were ever provoked to express itself forthrightly, there would be many wigs upon the green.
Onward!
I’m finding the shading on Lottie’s puffer fascinating somehow. Meanwhile Claire’s coat looks like giant moth wings, though of a rather drabber species than Billie’s cloak.
copper-bottomed investment: wooden ships had hull coated with copper to prevent barnacles attaching to the hull.
In other words, a copper-bottomed investment is a really good investment.
i always thought it was a pans thing. Copper conducts heat well, so copper bottom pans are good.
Like all of Capitalism this investment is, at its foundation, backed by the police against the ravening mobs
Yay! My Monday is looking better already.
Seriously dramatic swoonage there from La Grote. Note the pouting.
I can’t wait for this one to start! I keep refreshing main page even though it’ll be hours yet.
A melodramatic chapter? Yes please!
Monday you say? but, that’s today? *refreshes RSS feed*
