I got the Night of the Demon/Hounds of Love reference, it was Peggy Gou I had to google. Very appropriate for a former K-Pop promoter. How often has that shirt appeared without me noticing?
Lottie was wearing that shirt in the “Coming soon” page just before the start of this chapter. I couldn’t quite make out what it said there, so I asked about it, and John A. graciously responded with both the name and a youtube link to one of her pieces. Unfortunately, that was before the site was hacked and all comments perished.
My suggestion is that our heroes should start running up that hill.
And looking for the big sky.

I remember a year ago horrifying a bunch of my 20 something students when I told them vibes werw nothing new since I remember the tail end of the first time they came around.
They were appropriately horrified at that since they though it was brand new to them.
I suddenly, fondly, remember a teacher that now must be >60 saying “good vibrrrations” in a likely problematic Reggae voice

You know, that DOES look a lot like Brian. The tattoo is wrong, though. Brian’s got a skull with a lighting bolt on his right arm.

There’s a great Australian film called The Castle. The inept lawyer is trying to use the constitution to defend a family home but he doesn’t know it too well. The judge asks him which part of the constitution but he can only raise the book and say “It’s the vibe. It’s just the vibe”.
This sounds brilliant, will investigate.
It’s a classic! And with your knowledge of things antipodean, you might get most of the jokes.

It’s nice to see that the first thing Lottie thinks is finding Claire, protecting her friend from an orgy was her priority. However, whether it is freestyle or Greco Roman, Claire’s fear is unfounded, there are some rules that no true wrestler would despise. They will just be: crushed to the ground, overturned, push down or pushed out of the circle, they will get just superficial wounds. It’ll be fun! I’m hoping to see Glenn win.

They *told* her. They TOLD her. They were VERY STRAIGHTFORWARD about it. In the very first conversation Lottie had with them, Lottie asked how to get in on the food and received the reply “You have to fight in the ring tonight.” And she DIDN’T BELIEVE THEM. She thought they were JOKING. This is entirely on you, Lot.
Anyway my money’s on Claire to win her fight because the only other person there in her weight category is the baby.
If she’s going to grow up with a name like Drusilla, that baby’s going to need all the fighting experience she can get.
In fairness to Lottie, how was she to know? I mean, it’s not like she’s lived her entire life in a world where stumbling into weird things like this is a regular occurrence.
Oh, wait.
I was about to post something along these lines. In the Bobbinsverse, if someone says something random that doesn’t seem to make any sense, it probably *isn’t* random and *does* make sense, and you had better find out *why*. “They were probably joking” is a recipe for disaster.
Okay, so she lives in a world full of weirdness, but it’s not like she’s dedicated her entire life to investigating mysteries and discovering the unknown or anything.
Right! She had dedicated her life in removing stains! She *was* called “The Solvent”, right?
Claire’s Little, but she’s not infantweight. The only other person there in her weight class is… Lottie.
I suspect Claire has some things to let out that she’s been bottling up since “The Case of the Lonely One” or thereabouts. I’m sure it’ll be character forming.
Lottie’s a similar height, but I’m pretty sure Claire weighs noticably less.
The only Asa I recognise is the one playing Otis in Sex Education.
A web search told me that there are ASA Wrestling Championships held in Nagaland, India.
I think those here are a different ASA, though, not the Angami Sport Association. Some sort of neopagan Asatru-themed thing is more likely, but we’ll see.
Love how despite her worldliness in many respects, Charlotte remains bewildered and almost terrified at the advent of anything in the romance/ sexual realm, to the extent of needing to automatically delegate any kind of decision-making to Claire. An interesting character point.
Lottie was hiding from the world post-heartbreak only a few days ago. Recovery is a process.
Is this an Asadora reference? Naoki Urasawa is just the best.
Anyone else think Claire might be in on this whole ASA thing all along?
