Just doing the Wordle, yeah? (SOLVER: THE URN CONCLUDES)
Another Solver story concludes! I hope you enjoyed it. The next story is a two-parter, encompassing Solvers 9 & 10, beginning in January. Given that there are just two weeks left before my traditional Christmas/New Year break (for which I have allowed myself a whole week), I’ve constructed a six-page fill-in to span the gap. So come back on Monday for “Holiday Surprise 2022”.
Lil’ Clare is fine with Chibi Vampirella having her Italian stallion, er, pony. She gets Glenn all to her self.
I also ship Claire and Glenn, they look good together. But they are so opposite, Claire is such a romantic and emotional person and Glenn… for months we debated whether he was a robot or not
imagine people actually debating whether you are a robot. for some reason this seems feasible.
“Dammit, Charlotte, this website won’t let me continue until I can tell it which of these photographs have bridges in them, and I’m completely stumped.”
Does not compute.
We still have not 100% established he is not one, but the probability is pretty low at this point. But even if he IS a robot, does it matter? Do robots not deserve to love and be loved?
Maybe the Holiday Surprise will be the whirlwind romance between Glint and Unit Daisy.
I wouldn’t miss it for all the stags in Stanage.
Where in Italy is Stanage?
Near Venice it looks like…
https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place/Stanghella,+Province+of+Padua,+Italy
Well, close enough!
I wonder who this Holiday Surprise features? Lottie? Des? Mad Terry?
Hugo? Ljubjana? Sunita Sengupta? Wolfboy? (What is his deal?) Comrade Bat? Xaffej the Indefatigable? Mimi? Those weird critters from that time Amy became queen of an alternate dimension? Amy? Archibald?
Zebus, Warrior Child?
I’ve been waiting on wolfboy resolution for … it seems like forever!
I guess by now he must be a full-fledged wolfman. Out of college, with pups of his own.
It’s the long promised all-Wolfboy special. At least, at last.
I picture this as just panel after panel of Wolfboy glaring at the viewer.
Lottie and Claire are just college-age now, so Wolfboy is probably only Wolfteen. We lost a couple years to comic-book-time slippage.
How much is that in human years?
GIBBOUS MOON, YOU COWARDS
The long-awaited (and never mentioned) Gibbous Moon/Shelby Winner team-up!
Ladysounds. Ladysounds! Ladysounds?
I can’t write those any more. Exhausting.
As much as I loved them, and would love more, I appreciate you setting those kind of boundaries. Your work has been a constant source of joy to me for years, and I’m so happy you’ve been able to find ways to make said work sustainable. Thank you for another swell year of comics and notes (I like the notes a lot too)
Claire knows! Can’t wait for the development of all that texting to be a big story. Solvers is really a great serie
“Nero” only has four letters!
BIG INTRIGUE!! I am fully invested despite my accountant’s objections
It definitely isn’t – none of those letters are green.
Can I just say how much I love Lottie and Claire’s friendship chemistry in this strip?
I am embarrassingly excited for the Holiday Special.
Also, Charlotte’s meaty calves are giving me life.
I’m afraid those are just her voluminous harem pants. I like to think of Charlotte as tapering neatly down to the points of her shoes like a Ronald Searle character.
I’ve always thought of her kind of as an Aubrey Beardsley kind of lass, although I can’t quite say why
I choose to believe they are her thighs!
Of all days for Lottie to do the wordle, it’s the day the NYT staff are on strike and have asked everyone not to cross the digital picket line. Claire probably knows something’s up because Lottie’s not a scab.
An inflatable Scabby The Rat has been installed outside my house. It’s pretty embarrassing.
For those of us on the west side of the Atlantic who like to read John’s work the night before, we can think of Lottie as having played Wordle yesterday rather than today.
Being the scab I am, I tried to play double wordle but discovere that dordle is NOT a NYT thing (nor is sedecordle, my preferred variant.)
I try very hard to be a scab but I’m just not the audience for that publication.
Skip Wordle today! They’re on strike!
Any word on plans for Steeple?
I love everything you do, but I can’t deny that as of 2022 I’ve left a good portion of my heart in Tredregyn. I just miss those characters intensely right now.
I miss them too but the long and short of it is that financially I am not sure I can write and draw another 100 pages of Steeple at the moment. Volumes 2 and 3 were a product of the pandemic. I’d like to do a 4th but it will be tricky to swing right now.
Given how much work you put out, I don’t think you can either, and your health is the most important thing.
Max and Sammy however did an *amazing* job on the Steeple Summer Special.
I absolutely would not hate seeing them do more Steeple, and would also be willing to contribute financially towards any plan to see more issues produced.
Thanks Andrew. Max, Sammy and I have been working on a new project that you’ll see in the spring.
I think that if we put our heads together we could perhaps initiate a second pandemic of some kind if that would help
Perhaps a worldwide pandemic… of LOVE
Maybe we could try finishing the pandemic we already have before we go back for seconds?
Ah, Catterick Student Village, where Daisy was a residential mentor, built on the site of the hall of residence from the first year of Giant Days. Catterick also happens to be the name of a major British Army barracks in North Yorkshire.
It is now a barracks of education!
Thanks John 🙂
This room really reminds me of those student hall rooms in UK unis!
