Destroy History now archived here
I’m trying to tidy up my messy post-2016 web presence and close down some of the satellite websites. First to go is the old Destroy History site, all the comics are now archived here with the recent side projects.
I wrote “to be continued” at the end of the last Destroy History comic page, and scripted a new DH story in 2022, but found it beyond my skill to draw. That’s hard to explain without you seeing it, so I put the whole 32-page rough version up on Patreon (links below). I think the original Destroy History: NEMS was a product of the intense focus of the pandemic lockdown and by the time I got to part 2, I wasn’t quite up to it. Tough years! I’ve now unlocked these posts so everyone can read what might have been.

In-depth commentary and explanation
Is it just me or did the ongoing Conan comic magically disappear?
When the header said “Destroy History” – I didn’t realise it was meant literally…
Yes, unfortunately. While Conan is in the public domain, there’s a Tencent-owned company that has a trademark on him, and they sent a C&D letter. Understandably, John Allison doesn’t want to fight all the lawyers that the Chinese Communist Party can summon.
We truly are in the darkest timeline.
I am no doubt missing something obvious, but what does NEMS mean?
North End Music Stores. It was a music store – later expanded to multiple locations – owned by the company “Epstein and Sons”, founded by Isaac Epstein and his sons Harry and Leslie. Long story short, Harry’s son Brian would become a major part of the business, the same “Brian Epstein” who would manage the Beatles until his untimely death in 1967. (The Beatles were all frequent customers at NEMS and knew Brian Epstein from there.)
An abbreviation of North End Music Stores – it was Beatles manager Brian Epstein’s company. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brian_Epstein
Am I mistaken, or did “Kit + the Wolf” also disappear from your web site? Or was it just rearranged to somewhere else here?
Removed in an abundance of paranoia from the main website.
The Batman/Giant Days crossover, too?
That one vanished a while back. Luckily I was saving it and “Kit + The Wolf” as they posted. I should’ve been doing that with the Blood Egg, too, but I was not expecting a C&D to emerge from darkest Stygia to strike it down before it even finished. I was able to salvage part of it from browser caches, but I’m still missing big chunks of it.
Maybe it could be retooled as the new adventures of Zebus, Warrior Child?
I have saved pretty much everything back to Bobbins days as it appeared, so I am good in that respect, thank goodness
