We don’t really have supermax facilities in NZ… best we could manage is putting her in a recycling bin and weighing down the lid with a couple of crates of Tui.
New Netflix series coming this Christmas: PERU Unit, brought to you in part by the Redundancy dept. department. “New Zealand has never looked this South American!”
Yes! The mystery around Glenn’s ex is way too big. She and Claire needs to meet and I kinda hope she’s actually a very lovely girl, so to make Glenn’s escape even more complicated.
I feel as if the mystery of Glenn’s ex is big enough that it will probably get its own multi-part story, rather than being a subplot in another story. I could be wrong, though- that Allison guy can be unpredictable at times.
He probably does but he can’t go about slicing teenagers as much as he’d like to. Also it’s a shoddy thing, got it from a chap who swore it was authentic and lied vigorously.
Dean could turn out to be the true antagonist of Solver yet!
Hooking up with Bob Warren, buying a real katana, cursing it with dark magic, learning to command a swarm of killer bees mentally…the deepest magma-ridden depths of our world may yet turn out to be nothing compared to the depravity of his majestically offended soul.
I think I see a third person’s elbow, so it seems like a group class. Maybe we’re going to meet some more residents of the whatever it is Glern and Lottie are staying in.
This story is expertly juggling three plots at once and possibly setting up a fourth. Don’t know what’ll resolve here and what won’t, probably not Dean’s plot, but it’s exciting.
More understated but I love Claire’s pink shirt with blue overalls. It’s like she combined the best of the pink and blue power rangers. Complimentary.
Unrelated to today’s page but related enough to feel safe, I have two bits of news.
The first is that the 5th part of my giant days retrospective finally dropped today. This one took a while and I actually go into how Dean’s romantic mishap in college and Esther’s well meaning intentions might of lead to the dean we see today in the pages of this fine serial. You can find it by clicking on my name and it has a link to the previous parts. Worlds within worlds. I do want to cover solver at some point, and my friend who helped fund the giant days retrospective seems game, I just need a break to do other things and to decide if i’m doing Bad Machinery first or not as it’s a BIG commitment.. but also something I really woudlnt’ mind doing and an excuse to read the hard copies i’ve bought but have only barely cracked open.
In less related but why not news, I had a blackout at my house monday so I went to the library with my mom and niece and picked up, and finished, my reserved copy of Kill or Be Quilt. It’s an excellent mini if you haven’t gotten to it yet: it really is nice to get more Shauna and this string of stand alone cases ala Knives Out really suits her. My only regret is we don’t get more character stuff. It’s mostly on the case in both stories. Still it had lush max sarin art, some great jokes, and cameos by your faviorite solvers and Mildred.
All the negative energy Dean is directing against them seems about to destroy Claire and Glenn’s happy routine. It’s pretty sure that phone call is bad news, but… well… If that will force them to face their feelings for each other hooray for all the incoming problems.
Dean does Tai Chi now?
If you give him any more of my personality traits ohn, I’m going to have to start charging a licencing fee.
(Please stop making me identify with Dean…)
Uh oh. I sense some Glurgan backstory coming up. I hope. I fantasize about the meeting between Little Claire and Gourgan’s ex.
His mum is ringing to tell him his ex-fiancee has escaped from the supermax psychiatric facility where she was being held and is on her way to England

Auckland Prison has the PERU unit, which is pretty much supermax. (Prisoner, Extreme Risk Unit)
So… Six crates of Tui?

Kudos for recycling! ;>)
Isn’t a Tui a type of indigenous bird?
Which gives its name also to a brand of beer.
Yeah right
As if Kiwis would ever name anything after a bird

Dean in panel 4, suddenly wishing he had a katana to go with his topknot.
He probably does but he can’t go about slicing teenagers as much as he’d like to. Also it’s a shoddy thing, got it from a chap who swore it was authentic and lied vigorously.

I can’t help feeling Glomm’s mum is Mrs Sheila Durgan
and has decided to visit!
Now I’ve just noticed the next episode is titled ‘Bye bye’ so maybe instead Glergm has to head back home for some family emergency?
Is the woman in pink Dean’s friend from the bus?
I was thinking that, too!
I think I see a third person’s elbow, so it seems like a group class. Maybe we’re going to meet some more residents of the whatever it is Glern and Lottie are staying in.
She seems way too young to be her.
Dean is a very powerful being regardless of where he puts his energy
Indeed. As Claire finds out in the last panel, no ESP needed to sense Dean’s dark chi energy.
Unless she’s … CLAIRE-voyant.
Bobby Problems has no problems compared to Dean.
Mo’ Bobby Mo’ Problems

“…and Mildred”
Top notch. Made me laugh.
Dean’s practicing Te-tchy.
Looks like Dean’s Yang style “single whip” got lashed by his hostility.
Oh dear. Dean has gone full top-knot tai chi. One should not ever go full top-knot tai chi.
All the negative energy Dean is directing against them seems about to destroy Claire and Glenn’s happy routine. It’s pretty sure that phone call is bad news, but… well… If that will force them to face their feelings for each other hooray for all the incoming problems.
Bad news. JA’s Cintiq broke and will be sent to Germany for repairs, so an unscheduled hiatus is coming this year.

No “unscheduled hiatus” is coming that I’m aware of.
Local mum has discovered this one weird trick for getting rid of unscheduled hiatuses. Click here to add the hiatus to your calendar.

You ask us to respect the flipchart, Glim, but is it a Nobo snigger flipchart?
