Solver volume one concludes here. I’ve put together a print collection of all the Lottie, Glenn and Claire stories from 2022/23/24 – just a short run – that should become available from Topatoco and a few UK retail stockists in the next couple of months.
Will Solver return? It will if you ask for it. That’s basically how it works.
I had to take a burnout break for a month after drawing this story, which unfortunately now filters through to a pause in new strips. But there will be a new eight-week story here on August 26th. In the intervening three weeks, I will be putting some of my old comic archives back up at their new home on scarygoround.com, so there will be plenty to read while you wait.

I’m not a huge wrestling fan, but I am constantly confronted by how many people who love comics also love wrestling. Fortunately I have read Simon Garfield’s “The Wrestling”, an incredible oral history of the UK scene, more than once because I am a huge fan of Simon Garfield. All my research for this story was done by watching old ITV wrestling on Youtube. I watched tons of it, eyes wide with delight.
“Ultimate Bully” is of course completely unrelated to any characters you may have seen in endless Jim Bowen-related repeats on Challenge TV. I need to make that absolutely clear. I hope you like Lottie and Glenn’s wrestling guises. Each reflects their unique personality and fighting style.
I may have been close to madness when I wrote this sequence, but I certainly enjoyed making it. Bit worried about the request to strip though, stripping is the gateway to danger…
I felt that this was a well-drawn page, for me. Plenty going on. Although sometimes it’s harder to draw not a lot, than a lot. Fortunately, no one’s keeping score.
I vacillated over the running order of this page and the next one. On Patreon, I flipped them around. It’s all about “page turns”, but on the web, everything’s a page turn. It’s not important. But someone will notice.
Do you remember “vibe shifts”? After the pandemic, everyone was experiencing a vibe shift. I wish I could remember what a vibe shift feels like. I think this article explains it. But I’m not sure.
More and more, it seems to me that Claire is the rock that this series is actually built upon. She may be more of a pebble than a rock, but she’s a solid foundation.
