We have reached the end of Solver volume 2. At the time of writing (late April), everything is up in the air. I am at the start of a break from making comics and when I come back, I will inevitably be rusty, and I don’t know what I’ll a. want to do or b. be able to do. I have a strong sense that it’s time for a change of approach.
By the time this page goes up, hopefully I will be back in business, but it will take a while for the website to catch up. So for the next eight weeks, there are re-runs of Murder She Writes. I tidied it up for a reprint earlier in the year, and it came off the website back in 2015, so hopefully it will bear up to a re-read. Pages run Monday to Thursday.
I like seeing these three together, the great solving unit of old. The problem with making Bad Machinery was that there were so many central characters. But the good thing about Bad Machinery was the same as the bad thing.
“Dubai Blondies” sounds like a song by Frank Zappa. But I definitely saw it written by some cakes.
Ronnie and Also Ronnie was a smash on UK screens for many years. There was a small Ronnie and a larger Ronnie. The larger Ronnie retired first, leaving the small Ronnie to perform one final festive special with Bruce Forsyth. Both Brucie and the small Ronnie appeared briefly in NEMS. You don’t need to go and find them. This is a debut for the larger Ronnie.
With his chaos level usually pegged about a fathom lower than the average Tackleford resident (eg Mad Terry, Potty Grote), Glenn is the perfect emollient for a lot of situations. Here he soothes a sigma wolf.
In the 1980s and 1990s (and seemingly beyond), whenever Richard Branson did a photo op, he’d pick up a woman and sort of throw her in the air or whirl her around. There’s a Tumblr dedicated to it. I think that to be above board, this has to be a consensual act. It’s not 100% clear here whether the act of sister throwing that tales place in this comic is consensual. Poor Glenn just has to treat it as another culture’s peculiar ritual.
It’s been a long time since we’ve seen Sarah Grote (Wicked Things #2 in 2020, I believe) and something has definitely happened to her but I don’t know what. Lottie is still preoccupied with babies slithering out and having a drink. I don’t think even a trained midwife could disabuse her of this notion.
