I love that last panel. It’s got a kind of Beatles Hard Day’s Night meets Hanna-Barbera’s version of Josie and the Pussycats vibe to it.
I was thinking of The Monkees, but TBH they cribbed a lot from The Beatles.

I like the quiet D-Slide
Lottie seems to knows what to do and be able to do it very well (plus, Nero’s kiss is really sweet). Let’s hope this will be a GREAT show!
Now I’m very concerned as Lottie appears indeed very good at managing a faux K-Pop band. And she’s wearing her power suit too, which I love!
It’s a great set of characters, and although way more diverse than any k-pop band I’ve seen it’s hard to argue with the compositional opportunities these lads provide an artist with.
Not the most effusive intro, but for Dean it’s probably high praise.

I was just forced to experience TRONG, a pseudo-J-pop group from Germany currently competing to become their entry into Eurovision. They literally made me want to punch a tree. Enough times to build some calluses to make it more fun to punch the members of said group until they stopped singing. Forever.

I am so out of touch with modern music it’s depressing. Who plays the music? Not the band by the look. Shouldn’t there be a girl drummer at least?
Someone (a band member or a tame spod) with a copy of Ableton (or, in all probability, a Zimbian clone thereof) made some “beats”, which will on demand be replayed on a laptop plugged into the sound desk by tapping the space bar.
It can be made more rock and roll than that, but this is not the time

My teenage nephew’s in a band. They do play instruments, but they don’t have a drummer- they had one, but he wasn’t reliable, and they decided they don’t need one, since they could replace him with technology, and maybe get a temporary drummer for gigs where they really need one. It doesn’t make any sense to me- I’ve always thought a good drummer was essential for a good band- but apparently I’m somewhat old-fashioned about these things…
If past experience is any judge, drummers have multiple uses beyond contributing a unique sonic style to the band. Their need to provide a reliable beat demands a personality that leads them to be the butt of the band’s humor. They’re vital as a pressure value because they keep the front man from slagging the lead guitarist for coming in half a beat ahead of him.
Then you got drummers like Keith Moon, and, well, they’re in a class by themselves.
Some styles don’t necessitate a drummer. But if you’re going to be loud, it seems necessary
