Back in the old rhythms
Giant Days #26 concerns Dean’s girlfriend and her demands upon him. It’s a classic issue with some really egregious outfits and several sequences set in a MMORPG. It’s collected in volume 7, or Library Edition/Not On The Test 4.

Mr. Khan wears an expression that is disappointed in his client, but perhaps not unexpectedly so.
Another case dissolved.
This will teach Mr. Khan to be “running a little late…”
In fairness, I’m sure it’s hard to juggle his jobs as a lawyer, an online math teacher, and a Star Trek villain without the occasional lateness.
Don’t forget mayor of London!
He picked out that snappy pink shirt for nothing! But legal matters involving Dean Thompson are probably like buses- there’ll be another one along in a minute.
No matter how nice Cathey turns out to be I’m staying on Team Glaire.
I second Team Glaire.
Alright but consider that this opens the door for Glean
Awww, Dean. You grow as a better person almost every day.
Well damn, that legal situation resolved itself in an unexpectedly quick fashion.
I wouldn’t be so sure. Just because this lawsuit is potentially dropped I wouldn’t be too surprised if he sees an opportunity to dissolve Solvers through an act of “kindness.”
It’s certainly possible, but remember that Dean was on the fence about going through with the lawsuit to begin with, and only ended up doing it because of the evil influence of the dark entity known only as… Clippy. https://badmachinery.com/comic/2026-01-05/
Cathey: Steel City Solvers’ Dissolver’s legal plot Resolver.
Why does that sound like the motto of a sponsor for QWRP FM?
“QWRP FM is brought to you today by Cathey! Cathey: Steel City Solvers’ Dissolver’s legal plot Resolver. We’ll absolve her!”
Well played, Glurnn. Well played.
…albeit accidentally and cluelessly
(I think that might be the standard Kiwi approach!)
Yes, who knew that an existential crisis was all that was needed to discharge the lawsuit?
Certainly the standard Gllin approach
I love the clock detail.
It took 5 minutes and 14 seconds for Glenn to tell his story.
Or as Mr Khan’s accountant would call it, a full billable hour.
Signing off work with “misadventure stress” is encouraging me to be more creative about my away/vacation emails.
And though relieved for Glenn, I do feel sympathy for Khan. No one wants to get brushed aside when you’ve already done the prep work.
This page is truly sweet: Dean Thompson, one of the most sour lemons in all of fiction rallies to help the first real friend he’s ever had. It really warms the heart and i’m impressed how John has taken a character who was a one note if entertaining Horse’s Arse and made him a truly sympathetic monster man. Granted i’ts at the cost of Glenn’s sanity and starting a brush fire in Claire and Glenn’s possible relationship, but as a wise woman once said a problem shared with us is a problem thirded.. or in this case fourthed.
If the Good Ship Glaire cannot withstand a mere brush fire, it was doomed before it left the dock.
Awwww… Deep down Dean is a great friend and wants to help Glenn against the big menace from his past. Maybe he also wants to help Claire and save a couple he’s shipping together from an intruder. Let’s see.
Hey Glemm
It’s me, I’m Cathey, I’m on a plane now
It’s so co-old,
Got an aisle, not a win-dow-ow-ow-ow
Line 1: This is a stretch
Line 4: I stand corrected. 10/10, no notes.
Runnin’ up that (phone) bill

You know it’s true love when she travels from a New Zealand summer to a Tackleford winter.
Sheffield winter, but yes, good point.
Or a true sense of ownership.
I think Glenn may have difficulty saying “no” to anyone.
Exhibit A: his career advice job he didn’t know how to get out of
Exhibit B: getting drafted into Solvers
Exhibit C: this visit to the pub
All very fair comments.
I mean, a visit to the pub with Dean is better than a lawsuit.
Probably.
Maybe.
Which pub, and how severe a lawsuit? Important factors to consider.
Of course he choose the pub and you pay.
Still cheaper than a lawsuit
Warren G. Harding is Ygln’s spirit animal.
I am ashamed to admit Dean is one of my favorites for this exact reason
Absolutely. Dean both for good and for ill is just a great character all around.
No matter what Cathey’s strengths and quirks may be, I very much doubt she is a match for the Solver Ladies.
