Sea cruise
As the UK’s #1 bowlderiser of lyrics, this comic represents a career high point. Everything I learned making NEMS led up to this super slow and gloomy, legally bulletproof version of “Sea Cruise”. If you are not familiar with it, allow me to “sealink” it below. There’s a lot of gum chewing in the audience during the brief preamble, OO-WEE BABY.
Another one for the teenagers.

Glenn! Lottie’s using your real name! How can you resist?
He would have to be too far gone to ignore THAT!
His fear has to be immense for not being stopped by Claire and Lottie’s tears.
Glenn will be a late inclusion in the Artemis 2 mission, perhaps cislunar space will be far enough.
The joke will be on him, though – the capsule will immediately return!
Godspeed, gone Glenn
Their cry for Glenn was so powerful, it sent them into the white void room from Super Mario 64 DS
Come on, Glenn. They got your name right. Twice in a row! That’s how you know it’s serious.
I think Lottie has gotten his name right more times on this ferry alone than in all the time she’s known him prior to boarding the ferry. Even if you don’t count the final panel due to the extra NN…, Panel 2 is already the third one we’ve seen on this ferry.
Ah, technically they were not aboard the ferry yet when Had to be done happened. But they already had tickets by then, so I’ll admit it if and only if the GLENNNN… is admitted.
I knew the Clash didn’t write Stagger Lee or Wrong Em Boyo but I’d no idea they sampled this entirely different song for it?
Ok my contribution to this obscure “is it a sample” thing: “The Jones Girls”, “If You Don’t Start Nothing” – a B side from 1974 of a single that wasn’t even a hit, at 1 minute 40… is William Onyeabor’s Fantastic Man. (it’s uncanny)
This page is spectacular.
! I just noticed the title for tomorrow’s page! Uh, oh…
(I mean, the next page, which will be Monday’s page, I guess.)
oh no not desmond fishman!
I’m pinning my hopes on Monday’s storyline cutting back to Sheffield and Dean, who will be at that moment deeply absorbed in either a TV series or a MORPG taking a tragic turn, thence the title.
Knowing John, it COULD just be some random, throwaway reference that Lottie lets drop- “You can’t leave us, Glurm! It would be like when a major character dies on a tv show!”- something like that. Still, it’s a terrifying thing to see looming out of the immediate future.
Panel 1 leans even more into Lynch!
It’s probably the most Lynchean thing I’ve seen in the last few years that doesn’t have John Cameron Mitchell dressed as a parrot on it.
Probably I’m the only one that thought about “Who framed Roger Rabbit”. But… but the absolute surprise in Glenn’s eyes and Lottie’s robe…
No, that would be “🎶 Won’t you let me take you on as Julee Cruise 🎵”
Glenn, don’t you dare leave our darlings in the cold!!
Also I’m afraid I’m going to have to give this Lottie and Claire karaoke session a 5/10. It had a strong start but no where near their spectacular Bavarian show some years back. They do get points for their outfits, and David Lynch vibes, but unfortunately exiting stage only after opening with the first few song verses cost them dearly.
Is that David back there in panel 2?
It does look like him! Well spotted!
Poor Glenn, he just wants an extended moment of peace.
Sure life with Lottie and Claire is chaos, but at least neither of them are forcing him into matrimony. Also, I can’t imagine better bodyguards than them; their combined energies may just out do Cathey.
This page is so intense that hurts.
It’s sad to see Claire and Lottie so desperate and I wonder what the others passengers are thinking seeing this scene, with Glenn running away from two girls making them cry.
Perhaps this cruise has a pair of hipster witches on this cruise who would be willing to life this curse from Glerm for a modest fee?
Man, I gotta start proofing these posts before I hit “post.”
You did spell Glerm correctly; OTOH you should, obviously, have written “lift this cruise”.
I remember hearing this song on an oldies station when I was in middle school and being so annoyed by it! But now as a mature lady I’m proud of having weird taste as a kid and catching the reference. 💁🏻♀️
Grim Turban, international man of mystery. He has a mysterious past. He can’t be tied down. He’s like a rolling stone.
Gasp! Is he…the NEW 007?
Well … he couldn’t say no if offered.
Wotta Dope!
Cheer up, ladies. He won’t get very far on a vessel in the middle of the sea. Unless he jumps overboard. 😐
Look ahead to Monday’s post title.
They both look good, but damn, lottie is KILLING that dress
Maybe the dress is the main character that dies on the next page?
