Lottie is the best of all the degenerate influence♡. After this story Milder and Lottie’s friendship is stronger than ever and I love it♡!!! But that last panel has something creepy … Is there going to be some sort of (bad) final surprise?
Perhaps an additional factor could be that permed hair is torturous to draw, and our fearless creator would be stuck drawing it for an entire story arc? A wise choice, if true.
Why not just tell them the 100% truth? That you went a-mysteryin’ with your friend Lottie, got indoctrinated into the circus life, until Lottie staged a soapy intervention?
This is Tackleford, her parents won’t even bat an eye.

Creepy, you say? Only because the train car looks like the Black Lodge…
More the weird longhaired photographer following them I think
…that’s not a camera bag it’s a pool triangle motif. And on the shoulder strap too! I’m on a phone, I had to zoom in a bit
That fellow’s a real character from a series that I have never drawn. Snooker/pool is but one of his abilities.
I can see “Killer Bob” suddenly pop up behind them.
I know he’s only appeared in two panels and spoken one line, but I already feel like Mr. Heroic Car Wash Man deserves his own series.
Mr. Heroic Car Wash Man ought to feel like a spaghetti western.
He has verve and panache and I do believe he would be great at the sleuthing gig!
That last line! Lottie’s got a future working in the intelligence sector with a mindset like that.
Or maybe (hope John’s listening) an internship at the Ministry of History?
Personally, I’d rather see Lottie follow her own path than retrace Shelley’s.
I guess the Japanese Digital Perm was just a McGuffin? There’s no need for it now, Lottie’s got her mojo back.

I have no fear of a perm, a demi-wave, or indeed the mellow waves of of the J.D.P!!!
Just look at Carrot Scruggs if you don’t think John would draw a perm.

Looking forward to tomorrow to see the cloake pulled back and real truth revealed. Or is it curtains?
Tackleford has some new mass transit, I see. Much nicer than the bus to Wendlefield.
Just came across and read the Wen-Tac Road series. That was actually a good ~120 panel story arc.

But what if clowning isn’t vegan?
Yes, you do not know what is in that grease paint!
I think that video is going to haunt me. Do I even want to know where you found that (or why)?
I was made aware of Crispin Glover’s “sidelines” about 15 years ago and it’s a well I draw from only occasionally.
