Jog on
This one took a long time, I thought it was going to be easy, which only made it worse. Eagle-eyed readers will recognise Jack from bad Machinery’s father. About six eagle-eyed readers in total, I would imagine.

omg Steeple in the Bobbinsverse confirmed. This means it’s only a matter of time until Reverend Penrose beats up Desmond, if indeed he hasn’t already done so.
You oughta read the Cattywampus strips from Patreon for Desmond-in-Tredregyn adventures!
Timelines are being resolved in Destroy History because canonically Steeple has the Beatles, specifically with Ringo in them, whereas Bobbins has up to now had the Beetles. It’s like infinite crisis but for SGR.
Jack’s dad! It’s like, his second-ever appearance, isn’t it? Which, of course, begs the questions: What’s Jack and the rest of the lads been up to? And most importantly, WHERE IS SHAUNA!?
Of course I recognised Jack’s dad, but is that Len Pickering outside?!
Billie in national press. Never mind that. What has caught Mildew’s attention??
Billie!!!
Jack’s father is always so artistic and charming ♡. A true hot genius. Maybe he is the only one capable to defend Lottie’s hair. Mildred looks totally absorbed reading what the priest has to tell. But the most important thing is that Lottie seems already happier ♡♡♡.
Lottie’s speech bubble in panel 4 is the most painfully British thing I’ve ever read
American readers cry out for translation
My brain keeps short-circuiting when I read that.
Rhyming slang for “I should say so” or “I should hope so.” https://wordhistories.net/2018/12/18/should-cocoa/#:~:text=The%20British%2DEnglish%20phrase%20I,meaning%20I%20should%20think%20not.
Thanks for that delicious link!
I see that this salon stocks Goblin Times. They must cater to a diverse clientele.
Some of us only read it for the pictures.
“Jog On, George”, which was also incidentally the name of Harrison’s nixed tenth post-Beatles album, a failed attempt at capturing the 80s “exercise craze”.
My guess is that a “Japanese digital perm” is a device you wear around your neck that projects a hologram upwards, making your hair *appear* to have been cut, styled & “perm’ed” when actually no hair was harmed in the creation of this ‘do.
Thumbs up for Egypt! they “still got it”!
(“It” being the pyramids I guess.)
I do remember Jack’s father, the page where he does little Claire’s hair when she’s feeling down was one of my favorites.
It’s one of my favorite Little Claire Little panels. That one, and when she is talking to Shauna about The Onion Eaters and the ‘crithith’ whilst under an umbrella in the rain.
Whath a crithith?
“Crisis”
Little Claire has an endearing “lithp”
I was actually gonna ask if that was Jack’s dad; guess I don’t need to now. 🙂
I’m thinking “Tackleford Living” must be a very … uh … interesting magazine.
Glad to know Egypt has still got at least one pyramid.
Am I one of the six? I recognized him.
Yes, you win a no-prize.
Gonna check every Publisher’s Clearinghouse mailing for the rest of my life just in case Tackleford Living is an option.
Hands up everyone who googled “Japanese digital perm” to find out if it was a real thing. Something I really love about John’s comics is how much of our big real world they contain; whereas somebody else might have just made up some technobabble to use in this situation, John knows things and as a result I learn things.
Jack Finch’s dad! What a deep…. cut! Great to see him though it really adds to the verisimilitude having a character that only ever showed up in 1 panel pop back up again. We know the least about the Finch parents
Wonder where Jack is these days…
