Rocker the jib
There’s a lot going on in this comic, you might as well just drink it in. File your takeaways below and always bus your table if in doubt.

Says the woman with the huge goblet she half emptied in a single gulp
Wonderful, Mildred is still Mildred 🙂
She was already a mad nutter. A drunk mad nutter? Look out!
But it’s grand to see a smile on her face! Mildred’s mad smiles go back to her first appearance, after all. She’s like Luna Lovegood by way of the Cheshire Cat!
Mildred is on the Moon with a bespectacled heffalump.
Looking forward to your PSA: “DRINK RESPONSIBLY LIKE CHARLOTTE! Sip, don’t dook — or they’ll know you’re a flattie!”
Sip, don’t Dook! Excellent slogan.
That tomorrow will really hurt. But Mildred seems hit by a truck just now… Let’s hope Mildred will not throw up even her soul. The old man seems more and more a great person an Lottie wearing only black clothes is scary jey beautiful!
Classic circus movie “Dumbo.”
Pink elephants on parade!
Well, at least we’re willing to acknowledge the elephant in the room.
Pass the scampi flavour fries and enjoy the show!
Not sure if I’m use to Lottie and Mildred drinking so much, but then again they’re old enough to make their own decisions.
There have been several times in the past that Mr. Allison has made me uncomfortable with his storytelling. It is part of the charm that keeps me coming back.
Also, John Cloake is a pretty cool old dude. He makes me wish John Hurt were still around to voice him.
Hopefully Mildred’s inebriation does not attract a sesh goblin.
Are we sure Mildred is not herself a sesh gremlin?
Did John slip something in their drinks?
Yes. Alcohol.
What is the UK drinking age? 18 or 21?
I just looked it up. Apparently, the minimum age for buying alcohol in the UK is 18, but it’s legal for anyone over 16 to drink if accompanied by someone of legal age.
Specifically, 16-year-olds can drink, but not buy, beer wine or cider (not spirits) *as part of a meal*. The general “drinking age” is 18, and (unlike when I was a boy) ID checking is a thing. Lottie and Mildred are both of age, but are far from experienced drinkers.
Is it just me, or is Mildred starting to look like a Picasso painting in panel 5?
glad he made it back from the bathroom alive
In my head, I too hear John Hurt speaking.
Before you go undercover, you must watch this training film (pulls out VHS tape of 1980 film “Carny”) and practice saying “Hey rube!”
Discovers, too late, that carny slang in the UK is totally different than in the USA, and gets shivved.
Charlotte is rather wide-eyed in panel 3. Practicing “feminine wiles”?
“If we asked nicely?” Wink, wink.
I don’t usually do the whole “that person we only see part of from the back in a way that doesn’t actually reveal much about the person’s appearance might be such-and-such a character who we haven’t seen for a while” thing, but in panel 3- is that Mrs. Terry?
Now that I see… that person looks a lot like Mrs Terry.
Do you know what also has hair like Mrs Terry? A flipping clown, yeah that’s right, make u think
Hmmmmm…
The carny jib reminds me of the Circus of Strange from Grant Morrison’s Batman & Robin. This comic is in good company.
Such wonderful madness from Morrison.

Mildred’s new look has been perplexing me. Finally figured it out: inspired by Modigliani, especially panel 5.
I see that Mildred’s parents also kept her away from alcohol as well as chocolate.
