We’ve entered a run of pages I think look pretty good. I wish I always felt like I was hitting my marks but I don’t, sometimes I’m just scraping by. But this was a period where I felt like I was getting somewhere. I don’t really measure my drawing against anybody else’s, so I’m always floundering in the dark. Good weeks and bad weeks!
SOLVER
Broadwoodwidger is not a city by anyone’s reckoning but I do enjoy its name.
Given how long that last panel took me to draw, perhaps it should have been bigger.
Lottie has gone full King Of All Cosmos and I think it suits her! It won’t be happening again because recreating that signature We Love Katamari throne took me a very long time.
It’s the final week of the Spring Special! Comics Mon-Thu this week. And it looks like tomorrow will feature the return of the hottest new character in comics since WITCHBLADE!
THEY GOT HIM. He’s back. I feel like Glenn Durgan is a character with a big future. Not a future where his name is spelled correctly, but a big one nonetheless.
What happens in panel 2 may be some sort of super power, or merely an ability gained by all wearers of puffer jackets. Last page tomorrow!
The Spring Special has concluded. I hope you enjoyed it! A further instalment is planned, possibly featuring the return of red hot new character GLEMM.
At the time of writing (mid-March), my professional duties over the next few months have not fully crystallised, so I’m not sure what’s coming next. Hopefully by May 19th, I’ll know, and this sentence will have been rewritten. But there’s always the chance that I will have forgotten to do it. Or drifted into an almighty unknowingness so nebulous that answers remain forever out of reach.
UPDATE (May 19th): Three weeks of Steeple strips (running Monday to Friday) follow on the Steeple website from this Monday (the 23rd). Steel yourself. Then Solver returns for another seven weeks from June 13th. After that… we enter the nebulous unknowingness once more.
The Autumn Special was meant to run in the autumn but then it was moved to the summer. It takes place in the autumn. If I haven’t changed this by the time it runs, I guess I have made peace with certain decisions. At least it’s not about toilets.
A new story begins! Thank you for returning to the Side Projects website. If you want to read this issue in full, as a hi-res PDF, visit my Patreon.
Poor Fizz. We barely got to know this sweet dim bulb. Hopefully she and Charlotte will meet again.
Karen Grote has done her best with Lottie. As parenting tasks go, it’s been like trying to herd cats made of mercury in the dark.
