Those are the choices
A Scoville brand smart watch! Very niche. Some of you may be aware of Paul Scoville, the CTO of Fishman Industries. Those that aren’t, well, you’re not really missing out.
NO YOU ARE MISSING OUT I LIED

NO YOU ARE MISSING OUT I LIED

So, Cathey is ratatouille and Claire is… chips?
Maybe Claire is the chocolate cake on the side?
I don’t think that Glenn’s problem is that he can’t choose between Cathey and Claire.
Ygln’s problem is that he can’t choose.
Chocolate cake is more of a Lottie thing.
If choosing between Lottie and Claire, I would definitely pick Lottie as being more chocolate cake-like.
Between the two of them, Lottie has considerably more cake.
If you had a mouth full of cake and tried to say “Chocolate cake” it could very easily come out as “Charlotte Grote”
Coincidence?
Well yes, but that’s never stopped me creating wild conspiracies before!
Hence Dean is the cup of, hum, café au lait? Or is it builder tea? Meaning, an unidentified party that I am not able to factor among the other meal items.
It’s a good thing Cathey’s name isn’t Edith.
You can’t have your cake and Edith too.
One of Snoopy’s finest lines.
Glorm, was it really worth leaving your friends abruptly only to face an existential crisis on the ferry buffet line?
Is it me or does ratatouille or chips sound a bit… extreme? Chips or rice, chips or pasta perhaps, but ratatouille? Different category of stuff entirely. Ver strange!
Chips or ratatouille is like being asked to listen to either Sinatra or Sex Pistols. I mean, yeah – they both do “My Way”. But each is a VERY different experience.
I have never before predicted a John Allison plot point with such accuracy. The sense of surreality is crowding out any sense of pride in my accomplishment.

I didn’t mean to post this as a reply. Alas!
I think the rules say you have to do a separate post that just says “Called it!”
Thank you for helping me get the rule straight. I have posted the requisite quote without context. Better late than never
Ratatouille is prepared by a cartoon rat who hides under the chef’s hat.
Also that Scoville sounds like pretty hot stuff…
I will now be waiting with bated breath for Paul Scoville to make an appearance in the actual strip.
The Scoville Watch is the hotness. It is so hot, it scores a 10,000,000 on the Scoville Scale. That’s a lot of Scovilles! Hot hot hot!
You so excited? Feeling hot, hot, hot?
Paul Scoville is clearly a bold, innovative thinker. Possibly too bold!
I’ve just been reading a Frog & Toad book with my young son so the appearance of Mr. Scoville is immaculate timing. I wasn’t exposed to F&T growing up and so first encountered it on this side of the pond ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frog_and_Toad ). Can you work in Mike Mulligan and his Steam Shovel, or Old Winkle and the Seagulls? That would blow his young mind. I guess not…
Just avoid “Frog and Toad Are Fiends” which is a strange and disturbing outlier from an otherwise calm and pleasant series.
My younger brother was heavily into the Frog and Toad books when he was little.
“Old Winkle and the Seagulls” had me reminded how I was looking forward to read a comment from that-guy™ who likes to announce how “Lottie and the Seagulls” would be the Name of their new wave K-Pop indie band.
Their first Album being “(New) Life on the Polders”.
Featuring a Lionel Richie cover of “Dancing on the Sealink”.
I just bought a $6 smartwatch on AliExpress. (Which dollars you may ask? CA$? AU$? US$? Does it matter?)
It actually works, for a given value of “works.” It keeps time. It connects to my cell phone randomly and inconsistently. It displays numbers that are theoretically associated with my well-being if not reality. It has a variety of clock faces that are all equally difficult to parse.
Do I miss my $6? I haven’t decided yet. It’s possible I have derived $6 worth of entertainment fiddling with it. Like a Scoville fidget spinner.
Reminds me a bit of Dirk Gently’s I Ching calculator, which rendered all results above four as “a suffusion of yellow”
I need to read those books again.
I found Glomp! Major spoilers if you keep reading this comment. You have been warned!
He’s at the far right side of the series banner at top of page.
Both the Grum in the banner and the one in the strip are clearly Skrulls, who will lead our leading ladies on a wild misadventure before the true Gurm finally emerges.
Everyone is a Skrull. Everyone. Even the Skrulls are secretly different Skrulls.
Well, I found Sir Patrick Stewart in the first panel.
You mean “Space Patrick”?
https://bsky.app/profile/badmachinery.com/post/3mhbdmzf3as2c
Ferry Patrick.
What, no Patrick Macnee?
“Make it so, my son!”
Paul Scoville looks suspiciously like a Jaggi from “Rescue on Fractalus”. Cf https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rescue_on_Fractalus!#Rescue
At least the stress is not making Glenn lost his appetite or eating too much. He’s confused, but still rational. Maybe following Glenn’s advice wasn’t a bad idea. Maybe.
Dean’s?
Ratatouille on ferries. This is what our timeline lost when Sealink went away.
Sic transit gloria mundi.
I took the ferry to San Malo a couple of years ago from Portsmouth and ratatouille or chips was the choice I was presented with. Ripped from the headlines!
I blame my ignorance on the fact that the ferry I use most often is the overnight Stena sailing between Birkenhead and Belfast, where the principal onboard vegetable is the humble potato.
I wonder if it intended to be ratatouille before choppy waves caused some changes in the kitchen?
Gloria probably shouldn’t take the ferry on Mondays if she gets sick in transit.
I don’t think you should be putting dray horses into nooks, TBH.
Here comes the FUN POLICE
Poor Glem, his internal monologue doesn’t even call him Glenn.
It’s okay, his internal monologue just has a stronger New Zealand accent.
It’s just an endearing nickname, as Glenn and his internal monologue are very close mates.
It’s very likely a friendly nickname that Glermn always wanted to be called at school but which nobody ever did, so using it on himself feels comforting
Thank you for sharing Paul Scoville! My FOMO is now appeased 😀
The best set-in-Europe cartoon media to reference Ratatouille since that other time
Called it!
