I feel like there’s a certain intensity throughout the entirety of the page that’ll make panel 7 easier for those that with a hearty soul filled with fortitude to handle.
Not having 3-D glasses to test it, I’m still not sure whether we “should” look at panel 7 with them, or if that would just make things just a little too real.
Double “The” in panel 3. “Leading up to the the bedroom.” I suppose that could just be the way the lyrics are, though. Speaking of which, I think Claire may be on to something.
Panel 7 is great and it’s not a problem. It’s the difference between 100% happy Lottie in panel 6 and Claire’s theory in panel 9 that isn’t easy for me. Does Claire think the song is actually about the Miyamoto’s case, Lottie’s inability to solve it, and the crisis she had afterward?
You know those blindingly insightful flashes of brilliance you have at 2am before you depart for another day delivering the shiny shot to the shops? Well write them down because they will be forgotten if you wait until you’re home twelve hours later and hitting the chocolate covered marzipan and absinthe.
but is that (chocolate covered) (marzipan and absinthe). or (chocolate covered marzipan) and (absinthe)? English leaves so many ambiguities laying around ;{
I always take earplugs these days, and decide in the moment whether I need them. It was having that fingers-in-the-ears moment at a Godspeed You! Black Emperor show that forced me to act.
I feel old now. I don’t have the mental flexibility to ride that lyric wave. Took me long enough to decipher “she’s faster than most and she leaves on the coast”. But clearly Lottie is right out of my league.
There’s got to be a good way to show this to Dion….
Like…..Celine Dion?
Dion Dublin, I presume:

But I’m a timid soul filled with passivity! Help!
Maybe we should look at panel 7 with 3-D glasses.

I’M SORRY, I CAN’T HEAR EITHER OF YOU OVER LOTTIE’S CRY FOR HELP!

Is panel 7 Claire? If so, panel 7 is from Glurn’s viewpoint and is a spot-on representation of the migraine he must be having.
I think panel 7 is Lottie and is an image that suddenly appeared in Claire’s mind, while she was listening to the song lost in the mass delirious.
Yes, I’m pretty sure that’s just Claire, just screaming very loudly at a high pitch, like she’s an X-Men character with the power of a sonic scream.
I do like the fanciful theories posted here that it’s representative of some kind of subliminal message, but that feels like a bridge too far.
Could Panel 7 be some sort of subliminal messaging Lottie set out and only a few(namely Claire) can interpret it?

Something about angry dolphins.
A pox upon the spellcheck that corrects shit to shot.
Now I want chocolate covered marzipan and absinthe.
but is that (chocolate covered) (marzipan and absinthe). or (chocolate covered marzipan) and (absinthe)? English leaves so many ambiguities laying around ;{
There could even be an implicit “covered marzipan” at the end, making it (chocolate covered marzipan) and (absinthe covered marzipan)!
The lure of D-Slide is Universal! I daresay, if Des came by, he’d be joining the screaming throng in a trice!
A trice and a Speedo
The Tinsley Sisters (setting up refreshment stands backstage): “Oooo!”
I’m… not sure I’d want to try those refreshments.
Highly limited quantities, in any case…
They’re artisinally made, you monsters!
Does this marzipan taste a bit odd odd or is it me?
We sure Shauna didn’t write this one? Might chalk this up to her appreciation of architecture.
The reason for the architectural references in the song was explained here: https://badmachinery.com/comic/a-buy-to-let-opportunity/
Ah yes, that concert ear feel. I know Glenn’s pain.
I always take earplugs these days, and decide in the moment whether I need them. It was having that fingers-in-the-ears moment at a Godspeed You! Black Emperor show that forced me to act.
Back in 1991 I was taken, against my will, to a New Kids On The Block concert at Dodger Stadium.
40,000 teenage girls screaming at the top of their lungs, in unison.
The sound will never leave me. I can hear the lethal keening to this day in my head if I try.
You’ve got to just open your mouth wide. Maybe yeall as well.
Then pressures balance.
Sort of.
It balances the pressure, but your eardrums still need a few days to heal. I can still remember that awful cotton-ball feeling. UGH
Yeah. That’s the reason for ‘sort of’. I guess the brain sort of shuts down too.
From enraptured to mortified in a split second: the quintessential concert-going experience.
This is too much for a Monday morning at my age.
This has delighted my Monday morning.
Keep it going, folks.
“I was hittin’ up Facebook Marketplace..”
“Oh yeah, oh yeah.”
“When I saw you sellin’ a whole fireplace”
“Keepin warm, uh huh, uh huh”
“You were just wearing jeans…”
“Casual, oh baby..”
“…but you looked more regal than the Queen.”
Lottie’s finest work?
I don’t know aboyt that — Energy Crow is a timeless classic.
I’m not sure she means the song. I think she may mean the entire band.
That said, yes: long after the last humans are swept away into star dust, the legacy of Energy Crow will endure.
I feel old now. I don’t have the mental flexibility to ride that lyric wave. Took me long enough to decipher “she’s faster than most and she leaves on the coast”. But clearly Lottie is right out of my league.
“lives”. I feel doubly old now.
I’ve finally recovered from the intensity of panels 1–6. Do I dare look at panel 7?
No. You don’t dare. But you’ll look, anyway, because you must.
