Let her have it
We last saw Lottie’s smiley purple wheely case in Author Unknown. Its appearance indicates, without question, that she means business.

Top SFX game in this one! And is that Pepper the dog in panel 1, still alive and.. sitting?
I believe it is Pepper, who we last saw in Circus Windows, which was not that long ago, storywise.
My sense is that Pepper is gray now, and old and sleepy, yet no less beloved.
Does this mean Lottie’s finally feeling up to facing some more, um, wicked things?
Lottie is heeding the Claire-ion call.
It’s a roastery, Karen.
This comic is hilarious. Mother knows best.
Just
frigging
ONCE in my life
can I have the occasion to say “I’m needed in London”?
I think every North American who was raised on a diet of 60s/70s British-action/spy-TV-combined-with-Monty-Python is owed this as an inalienable right.
Only if I can call Mrs. Peel and tell her “We’re needed!”
An absolutely essential part of the experience.
Glad to see Pepper in panel one. I was worried since we haven’t seen him until now.
HOORAY! Lottie has finally decided to go and conquer London! I wonder what it was who made her decided.
Are the creators of Jobby based in London? Intrigue/revenge might be sufficient motivation to send her there all on her tod.
Maybe… she wants to work with Glenn??
Not Glyn?
I am not super invested in the story (though I’m sure that will come) other than obviously the general promise of Charlotte shenanigans, but every page so far has just looked so friggin … effortlessly … masterful. Damn.
Aw, I’m taking a liking to old Mike, now.
Yeah, he’s looking a lot less stressed since he got fired.
Well, that turnaround took almost no time at all. I’m kind of wondering if Lottie has conditioned herself to have a civilian mode until a mystery springs up and she automatically switches to detective mode.
And I see that she has a new purple puffer coat!
Yep! Fully armored, in case she gets… decirculated? again.
Is there a connection between the ‘need in London’ and Glenn?
I’m assuming that it is related to the phone call from Claire the previous day, but I guess we’ll find out.
Whoops! I have now double-checked the page from 2 weeks ago, and Lottie was just leaving Claire a message, not talking to her. My memory must be going…
Purple jacket, purple case, but not matching. More an indigo and violet sort of situation.
What is Lottie’s mum unfolding with a snappy “Chok!” in the last panel? Are those car keys?
Yes! Thanks for this. Don’t know why I couldn’t figure it out; that might as well be my car key she’s holding.
I think it’s because her fingers are covering the slot where the key comes out and she is not touching the release button. So it’s a little counter-intuitive.
I just want you to know that I experimented with this found that my hand closed around the keys closing the key fob after I pressed the button. This is the high level of realism I strive for, realism so intense that it makes the comic unparseable
Personally, I can assure you that, in an intuitive leap of logic possibly worthy of Charlotte herself, I did conclude that when Lottie came down dragging luggage and expressing an urgent need for a lift to the train station, the thing Karen whipped out was probably her car keys.
My alternative hypothesis didn’t stand up to deeper consideration, because while I’m sure being Lottie’s mum is an endless challenge, I don’t think Karen has it in her to Et-tu-Brute her daughter with a box cutter.
We expect no less!
Bless you, John Allison
YESSSSSSS
Don’t let the seemingly carefree smile fool you. Smiley purple wheely case has seen some things. Scary things.
To be fair, Smiley was safely in Billie’s custody when Lottie attended Brian’s special black mass.
Somehow “Happy Christmas, war is over” really slots together in my head, of course Karen Grote loves John Lennon.
Now if she could just smile on her younger daughter and “Let it be” . . .
Does this mean that Shelley has fixed the Beatles?
Maybe John’s solo career was all he ever had.
This appears to be a big change for Lotti.
She is asking for an immediate ride to the station from her family when they are definitely not prepared to give her one. The Lotti I imagine would never do that. She would have a better plan.
Charlotte Grote is needed in London. She’s not the sort to let a little thing like her mum still being in her bathrobe delay her when the game is afoot!
Lottie has ALWAYS inflicted herself on people when they weren’t prepared.
This is how Lottie operates.
And, really, can you ever be prepared for Lottie?
