Looks like chocolate mousse
A misty stag emerges. I wonder if this means I am going to have to draw a lot of stags over the next few pages. This wondering is rhetorical. Stag-fest is imminent.

Looks like a chocolate moose. Avoid.
Chocolate moose? What flavour is the stag?
Anger-flavored!
They’re all just in time for the stag party!
Oh my. I’ve herd lots of things about stag parties.
I hear you need a lot of doe to have a good one…
Just a few bucks.
Oh, deer!
Lottie encased in the puffer reminds me of Lottie rolled up in a blanket by her sister.

I’m reminded of the more recent puffer larvae.
Or a Russian Nesting Doll.

It was an intentional throwback!
I love Lottie and her puffer jackets 🥰
I suspect Hetty’s ungulate-hurling skills may be of some use here.
It behooves her to get them out of this situation.
You can count on her to steer them in the right direction!
Divil take the hind most.
Yes, team effort.
I think this storyline is stag-nating.
You left me stag-gering with that one!
Have hart! We’re near the end.
I deer-ly hope so.
With much a-doe.
Finally some progress in healing the Mapplethorpe sibling rift. Also I feel inclined to call Lottie Chibi Shai-Hulud in her bundled-up state.
Provided they heal physically after the encounter with 200 kg of rutting hoof and bone
Given the earlier encounter between Hettie and Arthur, I suspect it’s the stag that’s about to be given the lead role in “The theatre of pain”.
Well, he’s not wrong about hearing traffic…
Well… all according Lottie’s plan for make the two siblings be friends again after years of fights. Or at least, all according except that deer?
The sister’s going to have the elk sorted I imagine.
It’s a wild Patronus!
Thank you I was coming here to say that. Prediction: next comic either the deer bows majestically at them before fading into the fog, making them have closure with their father… Or I guess, it stampedes and the ashes go flying. Mission accomplished!
So I’ve been wondering: When did the rectangular comment block replace the thought balloon? I suspect that it’s been a while, as the first time I can recall seeing this change was in The Dark Knight Returns. Do any comics still use thought balloons?
I’m not sure. I actually prefer the trad thought bubble – of course I do, I’m a pest – but it’s hard to render pleasingly. I think the traditional Archie comics still use it. The caption is an intended signifier of “maturity” but I say, if you want maturity, read Tolstoy.
My guess is: boxes replaced the bubbles because the bubbles indicate the thinker, when in fact from a concrete storytelling perspective, there can only be one thinker (the narrator.) In the earlier style, having a concrete narrator isn’t necessary, so it’s fine to have multiple characters thinking in the same panel and know their thoughts. My first exposure to thought boxes was in some comic where the story began as text in a thought box, and proceeded into the panels with the boxes acting as continued narration… but as I realize now, there were no thought bubbles. Not sure if this was Spawn, it could have been.
This was really useful! Thanks for telling me that. I will carry it off with me and use it to enrich my experience of the world!
The art style and lettering of that stag emerging from the mist is giving me original Scary Go Round Shelley and Amy caper vibes.
You all get 10… no, it looks like 12 points for your puns.
not white, though, we know because it’s not a pure shadow, it has some color. White stag status: still unhunted
I thought I recognized that stag. It’s Bambi grown up.
Nowadays he goes by “Bambo”
Fitting that they should be on the lookout for anything that looks like chocolate mousse on National Mousse Day – https://foodimentary.com/2018/11/30/november-30th-is-national-mousse-day-3/
Well, maybe it would be more fitting if they were in the US.
I was just coming here to post this. You just beat me to it.
I hope that you will forgive me if I revel in that small triumph.
Have not had much to rejoice about lately.
I haven’t, either, so I hope you’ll forgive me if I revel in your triumph, as well.
You have a generous heart.
Revel away.
Mynd you, moose bites Kan be pretti nasti…
Those responsible for that comment have been sacked.
Those responsible for sacking those responsible for that comment have been sacked.
It’s sacks all the way down.
I’m not dead yet!
What is it about Hetty that she seems to draw bulls, stags and their elk?
