Y’know, we haven’t seen any evidence at all that Stephen and Hetty disagree about anything other than where their father’s ashes should go. I’m starting to think their father’s “Sort it out for yourselves!” was just another way for him to avoid his parental responsibilities.
My feeling when I wrote this was that they are quote close! Possibly they each live in half of the big farmhouse.
