Even during “Giant Days” I was surprised how Dean was able to survive unscathed even if he was horrible to everyone around him. I hope at least Glenn will be able to survive.
Glib seems to have a plan up his sleeve. Perhaps he’s going to lay a heavy philosophical trip on these fellows, kind of as he did to Lottie in the laundrette.
Not sure where this is going, Glym seems to have a plan, but Dean seems to be luring the goons into a false sense of security in which he unleashes his super-move. Or maybe Lottie will get to play Deus Ex Machina here.
Putting all my chips on “Gyrn is about to destroy these men singlehandedly and effortlessly.” I know it seems like a long shot but this comic didn’t become as interesting as it is by only doing things that are expected.
The first time I came across a similar situation was when Seargeant Wilson headed off-camera and defeated a bunch of ruffians single-handedly. Alas, real life tends to be less surprising than Dad’s Army. Thankfully Bad Machinery is only real life-adjacent…
The expression makes me think he has a fatalist attitude about the whole thing: “It was inevitable that I would insult you, as this is demanded by my nature, and it is equally inevitable that you will then beat the tar out of me, as that is demanded by YOUR nature.”
Dean would retain that expression of smug condescension as they were slamming their fists into his face, wouldn’t he. Which would make them hit harder.
I find it depressing that nothing at all seems to have changed for these three in the years (in internal chronology) since we last saw them. Except they seem to have a new friend, so I guess that’s something.
Are Gdajd and Lottie just in the Solver business for the lols and good feelings? I’ll admit to some doubt about what kind of monetary payout will be forthcoming from the Dean.
As I understand it, the theory is that Dean will attract people with problems to be solved. It remains to be seen if these people are willing to pay to have their problems solved.
I’m often capable of remarks like Dean’s. Temptations to use high level vocabulary in snide insults. I’ve been close to landing in similar situations. Just zip your lip and keep moving…
I certainly recognized one of them right away; can’t forget that mustache!

The white keyline in panel 3 is everything.
Mmmm a delicious slice of keyline pie
A dessert that truly stands out!

Ygln certainly seems quick on his feet. We will soon see how *good* he is, though.
I’m trying to guess what Glean’s question is, on the (probably incorrect) premise that next strip’s title is one of the goons’ answer.
I think my current leader is, “If you had a bull terrier, where would you keep it?”
Mine is “where do you see yourself five years from now?”

…or comprehensible.

John Allison’s blatant anti-Blades propaganda rears its head again. For shame
A modest bias against any team that employs Oli McBurnie is automatically reasonable.
And Chopsy! He’s a menace
I need to speak my truth!!!
Gleen seems to be remarkably good at utilizing confusion as a form of self-defense.
It’s a gift.
Seriously, how did panel 3 Dean Thompson expect that interaction to end well for him?
He looks (suspiciously?) unbothered by it all too
Almost resigned to it.

I expect that he has a job proposition for them

Gotta say Chopsy’s doing a good job with his comb-over.
I love to construct a hairstyle fighting its own little war.
I have had neutral feelings about Ygln thus far, but that last panel has won me over.
Great toughs! I feel the langour and pith.
