At least Glenn’s finally found his purpose in life as a pizza saver.
What’s a pizza saver?
It is the little plastic tripod table some places set in the center of a boxed pizza to prevent the lid from touching the top of the pizza.
But surely scraping cold, congealed cheese from the inside of the lid is part of the whole “pizza experience”?
No wonder Golem looks so existentially terrified all the time.

It was while I was trying to figure out what CCGCU stood for that I realized that “CG” could be “Claire Glenn” or “Charlotte Grote.”
Is Claire’s lisp freshening up? Is this perhaps a symptom of her ongoing agitation?

The colour scheme on the pizza boxes seems oddly specific. Can anyone identify the shop?
I’d say red, green and white is a fairly generic scheme for a pizza box, given its Italian origins. But the shop seems to be here.

I thought the British spelling was “Chattanouga”.
It’s even worse! Google maps (and online storefront) says Chatanoga, but the double pepperoni train wheels(??) in the sign clearly read Chatanooga. I don’t even know which misspelling they’re going for!!!

The boring answer to product name misspellings is almost always to make the name unique for Trademark™ purposes, though in this case I suppose it could just be a cock-up

Seeing as how you’re talking to a little man living in a pizza? i’d say it may be too late for that.
So Glenn didn’t QUITE understand Nietzsche, and also didn’t realize that the doctrine of Eternal Recurrence was nonsense*?
(* N. himself can be forgiven for that, since he somehow had the idea from the science of the time that it was Scientifically True that time was cyclical.
But also N. was all about *making it a joyous choice*, choosing to do THIS or THAT in eternal recurrence.
Someone should remind Glenn that the only free will we need is our internal and inescapable** *experience* of free will, even though the universe is entirely mechanistic.
** Except for people with some pretty serious mental health disorders.)
As it turns out, even the materialists don’t consistently hold this anymore, citing weirdness in quantum physics – basically allowing for the fact that the universe isn’t proveably “entirely mechanistic”. My cousin’s theory was that the random emergence of positron-electron pairs allowed for non-determinant things to occur, but the gist is that to explain free will some scientists are using the concept that our brains are *also* quantum computers, which I guess is an attempt to save determinism… from itself? But we should always bear in mind that none of this is set in stone – theories do periodically get a crippling revision. Who knows, perhaps quantum physics will somehow prove that through quantum entanglement, astrology IS deterministic of all life.
I don’t think they can disprove the possibility of the cyclicality of all time, since like Glenn’s view, it rests on something unproveable (the repeat can’t be directly remembered.)
The only possible answers to these questions, like all metaphysical questions, must come from Outside – the rest is vain (but often fun and sometimes useful) speculation!
Gloan is betting his future on Charlotte Grote. This, alone, defies the mechanistic universe in favor of the CCGCU. Surely that event and all events that follow from it are unpredictable by nature.
On the other hand… a philosophy can’t be really that bad if its involves pizza.

Didn’t expect Glenn to throw a discussion of the Block Universe theory at us. You nailed it, too. Einstein thought it was a comfort (he used it to console the widow of his friend Michele Besso) but for me the idea of everything always existing, unchanged and impossible to modify (as in Alan Moore’s “Jerusalem”) is the most depressingly grim concept I have ever encountered.
I’m reading Lee Smolin’s “Time Reborn” at the moment and HOW DID YOU KNOW THIS?
The thing about the Block Universe is that it’s a classical theory. When John Wheeler and Bryce de Witt tried to combine Einstein with quantum theory, they ended up with the Wheeler de Witt equation that removes the passage of time from the universe altogether. So, you have relativity where a timeline exists ‘all at once’ and quantum theory which encapsulates all possible timelines, so why not have a multiverse of a huge number of block universes which form a totally mad tree-like structure that exists all at once, if you could see it from outside.
I’ve heard this one before. It’s a dead end.
