Your noodle might be keener than mine on that. Also, for what it’s worth, a correction on my recollection, with reference links: it was “<a href="http://scarygoround.com/badmachinery/?date=20120124"break all the rules in a single visit“, and young Miss Grote was removed before she could accomplish “smoking”.
Nimz, you can’t use HTML, if you want to put a link in, just paste it in. But pasting more than one automatically sends you to spam where I may miss your comment for weeks.
I think the circus people may have made a mistake here. I can’t think of anything more likely to lead to our heroes discovering the truth they’re seeking than banning Lottie from the circus.
Until today, I didn’t know Monster Trucks were an actual thing in Great Britain. Well, it’s still early and I’ve already learned something new, so now I have the rest of the day to myself. 😉
I’m very fond of dear Lottie, and when I read “Chibi Vampirella” I thought, “Yeah, that sounds right”. Were I Mildred I’d be insulted that I didn’t rate anything more imaginative than “lanky blonde”!
I had to look up “chibi,” but a little while later I had to look up Vampirella too, just to see how far back she goes. (September 1969, Warren Comics.)
Wait, “Vampirella”? Britain has no dark-haired menacing yet relatively benign vampire woman of its very own? How is that possible?
😉
Aside from the larger question of when did Lottie go to New York, should we take the fact that Mildred knows about Lottie being banned from the Whitney Museum to mean that Mildred was with her at the time or just to mean that Mildred’s heard about it? I guess that depends on which sounds more interesting, two or more Mystery Kids abroad or just the one.
My spouse used to live in Harrogate and has always enjoyed your northern England regional references. I’ll be sure to pass on the explicit call-out from today’s comic!
Sad thing is, I had no idea what ‘phwoar’, ‘hench’, or ‘coconut shy’ meant before this comic made me look them up, but I processed ‘chibi Vampirella’ quite easily. Not only am I a nerd, I’m clearly an American one.
I would like to have seen the Bath Spa incident, but — as Plastic Insect reminds us above — it could have just been a faintly steaming Roman version of the infamous Pool Rules Challenge incident. Unless, of course, Mildred means the rail station, in which case I am extra intrigued.
And well you should be
Wasn’t she also collectively banned from every swimming pool in Great Britain? I’m surprised that didn’t make it onto Mildred’s list.
I don’t think Mildred’s finished with her list yet.
As I recollect, breaking all the rules bans you from every pool in Great Britain. Lottie was one rule away when she got kicked out.
I seem to recall her mentioning that she was banned from them all in a later story though.

Dagnabbit. I hate when I do html tags wrong. Hopefully it will be fixed while it sits in moderation. >.<

End of the same case: http://scarygoround.com/badmachinery/?date=20120628

That might be the plan.
I love the way the letters spelling out “That Evening” are stuck in the roof.
Nobody can break a fourth wall like circus folk.
Chibbi Vampie is now how she will be known.
Lottie is really full of enemies. But Mldred is a great friend ♡.
I find myself concerned that Lotte may not have been refunded her e-ticket payment
I’m worried about this, too.
Ha, that was my first thought too. They’re already out-of-pocket buying drinks for old John
I’m intrigued about the Untold Tales that have led to Lottie being banned from so many places… war of the monster trucks in particular!
(checks Google)

“Chibi Vampirella” is probably the worst insult Lottie has ever suffered.
Batten down the hatches, it’s going to be a rough voyage.
Actually, it’s a compliment. Lottie needs to embrace that.
Not sure the “chibi” part is terribly flattering…
She’s a miniature (implied: adorable) Vampirella? It’s one of those ‘compliment insults’.
When I was a kid, ‘chibi’ was strictly a nerd term. How things change!
I’m very fond of dear Lottie, and when I read “Chibi Vampirella” I thought, “Yeah, that sounds right”. Were I Mildred I’d be insulted that I didn’t rate anything more imaginative than “lanky blonde”!
I would love to know what you had before Chibi Vampirella….
It said “GET THE CAR, MILDRED!”
What did you have in the earlier panel, where Mildred is “lanky blonde”?
Also, I had to look up “Chibi”, which somehow made it even funnier.
Oh, no, it used to end with “get in the car”. Mildred was always “lanky blonde”, I can’t remember what Lottie was. I drew this page a few months ago.

In the words of sketchy political scientists, France is East England and England, Old New York Island. “AMERICA IS THE WORLD, BABY!”
Did Lottie, in fact, go to New York? Or was she banned transatlantically and preemtively after the Whitney got a call from British colleagues?

“Chibi Vampirella” did not realize that was what I have always needed
“Chibi Vampirella.” You got to hand it to these carnies. Shady as they are, they certainly don’t lack for creativity in naming their trespassers.
Honestly, I think Mildred should be more insulted than Lottie. They used no creativity at all in devising her description.
If she was Leggy Blonde instead at least she’d have a Flight of the Conchords song.
Well, now I want to know about Charlotte’s apparent adventures in New York.
I would like to have seen the Bath Spa incident, but — as Plastic Insect reminds us above — it could have just been a faintly steaming Roman version of the infamous Pool Rules Challenge incident. Unless, of course, Mildred means the rail station, in which case I am extra intrigued.
Unintentional foreshadowing? http://scarygoround.com/badmachinery/?date=20120502
No! Not BFI!
What did she do? point out that the anti-nuclear message wasn’t ENTIRELY excised from the US version of Godzilla?
“Chibi Vampirella” is pretty good, Lottie. I say you own it.
