Your personal rug
Record Collector is a real shop, I spent a lot of money in there when I was a student. I would wile away the hours in the second hand CD bins, a game of discovery (and bargain hunting) that went on for the three years I lived nearby.
Lottie’s seen… someone? I wonder who?
BAT-LIKE MAN
Wracking by brain trying to think of who she would want to make jealous. I got nuthin…
Does she want to make this person jealous, or just to make sure she looks good? Or at least doesn’t have some embarrassing visual flaw?
I assume it is perhaps some small animal which likes to eat bits of food it finds in people’s teeth
Shelley?
I don’t think so. Lottie doesn’t need to keep up appearances for one of her oldest, dearest friends.
this is a ‘mom’ reaction imo
Maybe the chief of the police Stella Boswell or the inspector Dennison? After all it’s about time she meets one of her ex “colleagues”.
A sexy streak of whitewash from Cornwall?
Tuan Hoang
Nice! I want this to be who it is.
Sensitive bus youth surely
No wait that was Claire’s crush. As you were.
The cool, chill guy would be my guess. Kind of interesting.
Someone she wants to impress. That could mean a lot of things.
Either that or she has a block on the word for how the Mapplethorpes fit together tightly and is desperately trying to get Glem to use it.
Shauna?
The local specialty record shop near me (CDs were available when I was in high-school and first couple years of college, but were still new and considered curiosities) was called “Djangos.” At that time I had no idea who Django Reinhardt even was. I bought my first real Jazz vinyl album there: JJ Johnson’s Concepts in Blue.
Perhaps a decade later CDs were ubiquitous and Everyday Music came along and was the place to go for for both CDs and vinyl.
Hell, today I’d have to search the place to find an actual physical CD, and if I had any vinyl I’d have to purchase something to play it on.
Django rules, still
A few more years and we’ll be able to convince the young ones that we’ve always bought physical stuff from Amazon, ever since when most houses first got a personal telegraph.
Lottie’s wife back from the world tour with her band?
AKA Shauna?
Lottie’s wife Shauna together with her wife Blossom?
Did I miss a bunch of weddings?
You mean you missed the Solver/BadMachinery/Bobbins/Steeple/DestroyHistory/RobertCop special, EVERYONE MARRIES EVERYONE ELSE?!
Low print run; only available at a few obscure record shops in Yorkshire.
That reminds me, who did Desmond end up marriying again?
Poor, poor Tom. I mean, sure, he deserves it, but I still can’t help feeling bad for him.
Tom’s twisted black heart doesn’t deserve a soul as pure as Desmond’s.
Desmond is the soul Tom needs, not the soul Tom deserves.
“Over 20 Titles in Stock” But only the best 20 titles.
That would be “Over 20 titles in stoc.” I’m pretty sure there’s room for at least one more 0 past the edge of the panel, just as there’s room for that final ‘k’.
Possibly “over 2000 titles in stock” if the text on the signage is centered – maybe even 20000, to line up with “record”. At a rough estimate, 20000 CDs with slim jewel cases would fill almost 64 cubic feet when stacked, so that’s probably the limit of how many zeros can be added at the end, anyway.
My headcanon is now that there are exactly 21 titles in stock, and they are all overstocked just to ensure they never run out of one of them. This will be plot-relevent, I’m sure.
Yes, but “over 20 titles in stock” is funny.
Oh, never mind.
It is 20000 – I’ve just looked up a photo of the real thing
The windows above are terrifying.
“Ursiine”?
If it isn’t right it should be.
I found it unbearable.
I’ve bruined it now
Way to make someone feel old! Much of my youth was spent flipping through rack after rack of vinyl. The “fwup fwup fwup” elicited from the work of nimble fingers was much more conducive to the devotional meditation of the search than the “clack clack clack” of the CD store. Having said that I rapidly became a big fan of Amoeba Records after arriving in this area…
Lottie’s right about grief. She still remember her saddest moment in life very well and that makes her able to understand how important the problem is from the Mapplethorpes. She’s really a good girl ♡. But poor Gelm sometimes find her very intimidating. Thime for Shauna to appear or Lottie saw one of hor former colleagues from police?
The 1st panel monologue is spot on. Well done, John!
I’m not clever enough to wile away the hours. sadly.
Can you at least confer with the flowers?
Not really useful. They only want to giggle and talk about bees.
Has Lotte spotted the ‘Options’ sales rep, the ‘cool chill guy’.
Well, she is certainly one to explore her Options.
Hey if anyone’s qualified to deal with the loss of a parent it’s Lottie.
