A net? It seems extreme to me, but Lottie’s expert is Claire and it would be a hilarious scene. I like how discussing about Lottie is bringing Claire and Glenn more and more close together.
Maybe Lottie invited Nero over for a home-cooked meal, and she’s using Claire and Glenn as guinea pigs to try out her cooking on? Or is that too much of a standard sit-com plot?
Claire and Gulp definitely have their minds on something other than the meal, given that she has grabbed 4 bowls, and he has some knives among his fistful of flatware.
I will note that “delicious looking” is not synonymous with “delicious.” Of course, if the dinner is not the latter, that will certainly provide further distraction of the interveners.
I have to remember that next time I go on an outing with my friends – to award all of us trophies for being good at putting and for being good friends (probably more of the latter). That sounds fun.
Perhaps this is one of the golf-courses where anybody gets a trophy not matter what. I remember an old bowling-parody in MAD-Magazine where they underlined that it was impossible for a bowler NOT to get a trophy. Good for return business I guess.
Panel 4: Part of the hoodie or less well hidden sausages?
To calm down Lottie a dart-gun Rinoceros-strength would be my preference.
MiniChibiLottie sighting! Panel 4!
Good eye – I totally missed it on first look!
Is that what that is? I thought it was an oven mitt hanging from a hook.
And a first! This is the first time we’ve seen Lottie’s Chibus in the presence of anyone other than Golf.
I mean, there was the sausages surprise that one time. I’m still wondering what the surprise was. Maybe it was that Lottie cooked.
The surprise was that she didn’t use Woll’s.
Oops, just double-checked: I meant Walls.
Dunno, seeing how good Lottie is at making elaborate coffees, I think she’s quite good in cooking, expecially experimenting unusual recipes.
Karen did seem to enjoy the sausages surprise.
Come to think of it, Lottie cooked for Shelley in “The Big Hiatus”, too, and Shelley was quite pleased with the results.
Exchanging gifts, are they?
It’s adorable.
Glenn is so happy to eat something that isn’t from a microwave even if it is Lottie’s “recipe.”

And Claire has never been given to extreme reactions… :shifty eyes:

I could see Lottie actually deliberately using sitcom plots as a guide to “how do romance?” She’s way out of her depth there.
Claire and Gulp definitely have their minds on something other than the meal, given that she has grabbed 4 bowls, and he has some knives among his fistful of flatware.
I think what their minds are on is how utterly, shockingly un-Lottie-like this situation is.
It’s just that the meal is a complete surprise. Gotta be ready for anything!
Chibi² Vampirella needs a bowl, too. And there’s no telling what Lottie has in her mysterious pot. They might need to knife-fight it.
Perhaps Nero is waiting in the dinning room.
Ygln also seemed pretty optimistic about the utility of forks during the upcoming scrum.
A delicious looking home cooked meal to thwart Claire and Glenn’s intervention. Well played Grote, well played.
I will note that “delicious looking” is not synonymous with “delicious.” Of course, if the dinner is not the latter, that will certainly provide further distraction of the interveners.
Cooking in white, without even an apron? Lottie’s living on the edge!
I’m glad you noticed this.
I have to remember that next time I go on an outing with my friends – to award all of us trophies for being good at putting and for being good friends (probably more of the latter). That sounds fun.
THNARE
I see take out packages on the counter. Straight into the pot, No problem cooking in white.
That’s vegetable packaging. Cellophane and trays.
I am on tenterhooks. Just on tenterhooks.
Lottie is activating a nesting instinct! This is an emergency!
Someone has to allert Shelley Winters ASAP!
I think there’s an extra “she” in Claire’s dialog in panel 2. Or maybe she’s developing a stutter?
FIXED
Doe Lottie have popsicles on her hoodie?
I think those are just wide hood strings.
Or eerily symmetric drips from the ragout she is cooking! Teach her to wear a white hoodie at the stove…
Yep, better get the rag out.
In our nanny state, those are almost extinct. Strangulation hazard.
She’s got chunky hood strings, this has long been a thing in the world
Do you think the mysterious something might involve coffee packets?
Lottie has a lot of options in her recipes, you’re saying?
Or hot cocoa?

Rhinoceros of course – too late for proper spelling
